re: see the PULLER
One clip.
Sometimes one random clip can highlight a bunch of different Linebacker coaching points.
Here’s an example:
See the PULLER
Whatever type of Linebacker READ you’re using…
There’s probably a built-in mechanism to “see the PULLER”.
Maybe it’s the primary read, or the secondary read, but it’s in there somewhere.
Pullers create moving GAPS, and new Run Fits…
It’s a key bit of information for any Linebacker.
Move SQUARE
I love this clip because the Linebacker moves SQUARE.
His initial movement is a Scrape.
Then he transitions to a Shuffle.
Both of these movements involve square shoulders.
And square shoulders help Linebackers make plays.
Take a good ANGLE
The angle here is crucial.
If the LB is too downhill, he might get caught in the wash.
On the other hand, if he bellies and loses ground, that’s a problem too.
He should take a slight downhill angle as he moves laterally, gain a little bit of ground, and get to his fit.
Final Thoughts
Linebacker play is all about fundamentals.
When you join THE LB LIBRARY, you gain access to the “Intro Clinics”.
They’ll provide you with a solid foundation of Linebacker fundamentals in under 2 hours.
