The Shock Technique
A complete breakdown
Great Linebackers are tough to block.
And the Shock Technique is a key tool in any Linebacker’s toolbox.
Let’s get into it…
What is it?
The Shock Technique is a Block Destruction Power Move.
It’s what Linebackers should use to destroy blocks in the box.
It involves striking the blocker with your hands…
Controlling the blocker…
Then disengaging.
This move helps Linebackers make plays.
Period.
Footwork
This move starts from the ground up.
A key coaching point here:
Step with your near foot.
This will help you generate power.
Another key coaching point:
Keep your feet moving after contact.
You need hot feet to win this battle.
Hand Position
When using the Shock Technique, attack half the blocker.
When you strike with your hands…
Aim for the near shoulder and the midline.
Don’t get “head up”.
Work half the blocker to even the odds.
Arm Extension
Your strike must be powerful.
This will allow you to extend your arms, protect your chest, and control the blocker.
Disengage
When it’s time to disengage:
Pull
Step
Rip or Arm Over.
Your disengagement must be so violent that you can defeat the block even when you’re being held.
Finish
To complete your Block Destruction…
You need to stack the blocker.
This means replacing their position.
If you do that, there’s no way they can regain the block.
Then…
All you need to do is go make the tackle.
Final Thoughts
These are some of the key coaching points for the Shock Technique.
If you’d like a complete video breakdown…
So you can see the technique in action…
Including drills…
And teach tape…
Then you should join THE LB LIBRARY.
There are less than 48 hours left in this registration window.
Once time is up, I’m closing registration for a while so I can focus on the members inside the group.
Join now if you want to ensure you have your best offseason yet of Linebacker development.

What is the best technique to use when the OL climbs fast and tries to reach or down block the LB and they need to scrape over with speed and power? Use feet to shock the far outside half?
