The Shuffle is a KEY type of Linebacker movement.
But only if you do it right.
Here are 3 common mistakes Linebackers make when using the Shuffle.
Trying to be too FAST
The Shuffle is not built for speed.
If you need to be fast, use a different type of movement.
Use the Shuffle to move with power and to change directions.
When you Shuffle, don’t be fast.
Be efficient.
Turning Shoulders
When Shuffling, you need to be ready for the cutback.
That’s the whole point.
If you turn your shoulders, it’s tougher to change directions.
Stay SQUARE.
Being too HIGH
As I said earlier, the Shuffle is about power and change of direction.
Both of these require you to have a good, LOW pad level.
If you get too high in your Shuffle, you won’t be effective.
Play LOW.
Final Thoughts
It seems simple.
Maybe even “boring”.
But the “boring” things lead to success on the field.
A Linebacker who perfects their Shuffle will make more plays.
